"Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns"
"Lucky Devil" is the name of this CD, seemingly produced and promoted by the strong charactered singer. She was such a star of the Loose Marbles ensemble street group in NOLA and at times in NYC's Washington Square when the summer weather in New Orleans required a retreat. This CD is terrific but not as awesome as the one in the orange wrapper that was sold for 10 bucks at street performances in 2008 I think - "when I get low I get high", that's the one.
I would recommend this to anyone. Where is retro not a hole in a music selection? Ellington's "Ain't Got Nuthin But The Blues"(probably actually written by Billy Strayhorn of Hillsborough) is worth the change, and there's so much more here. "Gimme a Pigfoot", where can you find a song like that from 1933 sung by a young woman who ran away from Minnesota to do her thing years ago, she's still young I should say.

meschiya is doing a solo benefit for Japanese tsumami victims starting in about 15 minutes at Yuki on Frenchmen street, if you happen to be in NOLA right this minute. My daughters are both in town on a visit and hope they are up on Frenchmen, great music, food, spirit, do Butler people know to leave Bourbon st?
